DNV GL receives gold level recognition by IAOB
The honorable mention in IAOB Certification Body of the Year program is a recognition of DNV GL’s high performance and contribution to drive quality in the automotive sector.
International Automotive Oversight Bureau (IAOB) accredits 20 of the 41 certification bodies approved to deliver third party certification to the IATF 16949 standard. This is one of the most widely used technical specifications for an automotive sector specific quality management system standard.
The IATF is an “ad hoc” group of automotive manufacturers and their respective trade associations, formed to provide improved quality products to automotive customers worldwide.
“We are very proud to be recognized as a high performing certification body who meets IATF and IAOB expectations,” says Sherif Mekkawy, Global Accreditation Manager in DNV GL-Business Assurance. “Working to safeguard quality and safety is in our company DNA, starting more than 150 years with ships. Since then, we have expanded to all sectors including automotive. But the responsibility is the same, to ensure the quality and safety of vehicles, which ultimately is about saving lives.”
DNV GL was highlighted as one of seven Gold level Certification Bodies during the virtual AIAG Quality Summit on October 22, 2020.
During the announcement IAOB commended the remarkable partners for their hard work and dedication to continual improvement in the processes that are critical to support the automotive scheme and third-party certification.
“The automotive industry relies on IATF certification to qualify suppliers and assure consistent quality levels globally. While the industry hit by the pandemic, the ability to deliver audits remotely with the same excellence is essential. We are actively working to contribute and design agile and technically sound solutions,” says Sherif Mekkawy.
